CMS Features
Interactive Map Analytics Updates
This release included multiple updates to analytics to make them more reliable and easier to set up for clients.
C3D Google Analytics Backend
We launched our new C3D Google Analytics Backend. This means that we no longer collect data from the client (web browser). All Google Analytics events are now collected on the server side (the code that serves the web site).
This change was made to better ensure that we are tracking usage and behavior accurately. Tracking analytics in the browser (client-side) has become less reliable. Ad blockers and privacy settings can keep necessary analytics from coming through. In fact, up to 30% of users have an ad blocker. By using a proxy (our own url, not listed in ad blockers) we will receive more accurate information.
New CMS Field for GA4 Measurement ID
As of earlier this quarter, the Google Analytics field in the CMS currently accepts both a Google Analytics 4 (GA4) Measurement ID and the traditional Universal Analytics Property ID. We realized that made upgrading a little more challenging, as clients had to pick a point in time to change over. With this release, clients can enter, and send, analytics to both Universal Analytics and GA4 for a seamless transition once Universal Analytics is deprecated by Google July of 2023.
The new Google Analytics 4 field is next to the old Google Analytics field under the Options tab in the CMS.
New “Map Engagement” Event to Replace “Map Pan” & “Zoom Change”
The "Map Pan" & "Zoom Change" analytics events were put in place previously to help us better understand which maps loaded the most tiles for billing purposes. We no longer need to track this for maps, and it is not very valuable to clients, but shows as the highest event. Therefore, we removed these events and added a general; “Map Engagement” event. This event will trigger whenever some pans or zooms the map, but only once instead of every time it is done. So we can get a general sense if people are interacting with the map without spamming analytics. This is also better for performance.

CMS Features
Ability to Print 360° Maps
360° Map users can print their 3D views with Print Map!
Printed 360° Maps give students and visitors a much better sense of buildings, sidewalks, current location, and everything else location related. Clients can create these printed 360° Maps from multiple viewpoints to give visitors multiple options or highlight different areas of interest.
Some things to note with printed 360° Maps: gridlines are both hard to place and see on a 360° Map, so they are not an option for printed 360° Maps when the orientation is not top down. Gridlines will remain an option for traditional, top-down 2D Print Maps as well.
This is the initial release of printed 360° Maps, which will continue to be refined.
This will help clients give their visitors the most accurate print map experience and catch their visitors’ attention with the beauty of their buildings and campuses.
Unlock Map Tilt and Rotation is a new option in Print Map for 360° Maps. This option allows users to print a 360° Map but does disable gridlines and coordinates.
Print Map supports 360° Map views.

CMS Features
Required Headings in Bulk Upload
Clients can bulk upload location data to their Interactive Maps. In order to make this a more seamless experience, we now require headers for all bulk uploads. What does this mean?
-
Columns in the bulk upload can be in ANY order
-
Columns without a matching header will be ignored (yes, this means you can import a data export sheet seamlessly without deleting the unnecessary columns)
-
A sheet will not upload without successfully verifying the three required fields: Title, Category, and Location.
An error message appears when the bulk upload is done incorrectly.
Ability to Customize Wayfinding Popup Description
Clients can now customize the description in the Wayfinding popup of the front end map. Clients that have specific instructions they wish to communicate to their end users can use this description field to do so. There is a limit of 160 characters.
The new Wayfinding description editor can be found under the Options tab in the CMS.
The new Wayfinding description will replace the default description shown in the Wayfinding popup.
Ability to Add Custom Tracking Code
Analytic providers often require the addition of a “tracking code” to enable data tracking. The CMS supports the ability to add any 1 of these tools to the map.
Tools like Capture and Slate are valuable to marketing and admissions teams in engaging and enrolling students more quickly and easily. We hope clients can supply these tracking codes and get better returns using the maps in campaigns. Contact your Client Success Manager for more information.

CMS Features
Google Tag Manager Support
- Interactive Maps now support the use of Google Tag Manager (GTM)! GTM allows clients to fully manage their analytics and which actions and events they would like to track. Clients can work with their Client Success Managers to get their GTM Container ID input for their map. In doing so, the client is taking full responsibility for all of their analytics and will no longer receive out-of-the-box Concept3D events.

CMS Features
Google Analytics 4 Support
- CMS users can now input a Google Analytics (GA) 4 Measurement ID (new GA) instead of a Universal Analytics Property ID (old GA). GA4 is the future of web analytics and will allow us to adapt to upcoming changes to cookies and privacy policies.
The existing Google Analytics ID field in the Options tab of the CMS will now accept both Universal Analytics and GA4 IDs.
Ability to Add External Forms to Map Tours
- Map Tours now have external form support! This support is similar to Forms for 360° Tours: clients can provide an embed code of their form from providers such as Google Forms.
CMS users can now select from different Form Types and add an external Form to their Map Tours.
