The Night Map Overlay: Enhancing Campus Safety and Beyond
Navigating at night, whether it’s through city streets, campus paths, or park trails, just got safer and easier with the Night Map Overlay. This new tool shines a light on your path, literally. It highlights well-lit routes and shows where emergency call stations are, so you can feel secure moving around after dark.
Easy to Use, Anywhere You Go
No matter where you are - in a busy city, a quiet park, or a sprawling campus - the Night Map Overlay is ready to guide you. It’s a feature that fits right into the maps you already use, making it a seamless part of planning your nighttime journey.
Control at Your Fingertips
What’s great about this overlay is the control it gives you. If you're on a campus late at night and want to see which paths are brightly lit, just turn on the overlay. Prefer to view the map without it? You can easily switch it off. It’s all about making your nighttime navigation safer and more comfortable, enhancing your sense of security wherever you are.
A Bright Idea for Nighttime Navigation
The Night Map Overlay isn’t just another map feature; it’s a beacon for safer travels at night, especially important for campus safety. By clearly showing well-lit paths and emergency stations, it gives you the information and confidence to move around safely after sunset. Whether you're heading home, to a late class, or just taking a stroll through the park, the Night Map Overlay lights the way.
Overlay Creation
Creating the Night Map Overlay is a collaborative and customizable process. We start by collecting data from our clients, which includes images and specific details about the areas that are lit. Using this information, we craft the overlay and upload it to our content management system (CMS), where clients can view it and request changes if needed. These overlays can be updated ensuring that the maps remain accurate and useful. For more on updating maps, refer to our "How Do I Make Map Updates" article.
Night Map Overlays are considered a "Custom Overlay" and follow some of the criteria found in Managed Updates.
