-
Labels Visibility: As you zoom in, labels appear and shift from abbreviated to full text, based on zoom level. You can toggle these on/off by category.
-
Editing Labels: In the CMS (Content Management System), go to the label's category, find the specific label, and hit “Edit” to modify details like abbreviated/full name, category, and priority.
-
Priority Control: Labels with lower "weight" (e.g., 1 vs. 3) appear on top when overlapping, and higher priority labels are displayed first as you zoom in.
-
Marker Positioning: To move a label’s marker, click the "X" to remove it, click on the map where you'd like it, and save changes. Review changes in the publish area before finalizing.
-
Zoom Levels: You can set when labels appear/disappear based on zoom levels (e.g., labels appear at zoom 17 or closer). This control is accessible under the labels category in the CMS.
-
Public vs. Private Display: Choose whether labels are visible only in the CMS or also on the public map by toggling display settings in the sidebar.
Dynamic Labels 2.0 features significant improvements in performance, efficiency, and customization. Building on the foundation set by the Dynamic Labels MVP, this update resolves several pain points experienced by both customers and internal teams while managing their maps.
Better performance
- The previous structure of label layers was taxing on the system and resulted in interior labels not being feasible for all clients.
Better cross-feature support for:
- Static maps
- Print maps
- Search
Additional customization
- Font
- Color / Stroke
- Capitalization
- Prioritization
- Abbreviations
New Category Type for Dynamic Labels 2.0
The category level controls multiple settings very relevant to the label display
- List Position: Is used to order labels. Labels with a lower list position will take precedence when label conflicts occur while zooming out.
- Floor Level - Floor level labels can display on - currently labels can only be on a single level
- Abbreviation zoom level - The zoom level abbreviations will begin to display on
- Zoom visibility - Utilize to have the labels only display on specific zoom levels
- Utilize the Hidden From Sidebar - Default Display settings to make the category “Always on”
Please note: Dynamic label 2.0 categories cannot have subcategories
New “Add Label” Option
- Selecting the add label option will open a new add label sidebar
- To add a label, all that is required is the title and the location
- Optionally, the user can add an abbreviation which will display at a set zoom level configured on the category level
- Note: If no categories display in the category dropdown, that means no dynamic label 2.0 categories have been added and published
Dynamic Label Styles Section in Front End Styles Tab
- Map Users can now customize the look and feel of their labels. Check out the customizations options in screenshot below.
- Currently all labels will have the same style. Future update considerations include category level override.
New Publish Tab Section for Label and Label Style Revisions
- The publish tab now has two sections, “Content” and “Labels”
- The labels section will show labels themselves and updates to label styles
- There is a red badge on the inactive tab indicating how many unpublished revisions are in the section
New Bulk Uploader for Labels
- We've created a new Labels Bulk Upload Template you can make a copy of at this link.
- You can upload the completed spreadsheet via the Map CMS on the Bulk Upload tab:
