Getting Started with the Interactive Map

The interactive map makes it simple to explore locations, find specific places, and share information with others. Whether you’re on a desktop, laptop, or mobile device, you’ll be able to navigate categories, search for destinations, and view detailed information about each location.

Below you’ll find step-by-step instructions to help you get started.

Finding Locations

For Desktop & Laptop Users

1. Open the Main Index

   • The main index is your starting point for exploring the map.

   • Use the navigation menu to browse categories and locations.

2. Browse by Category

   • Click a category name to expand it.

   • View subcategories and all locations under that category.

3. View a Location

   • Click on a location’s title to:

     • Focus the map on that spot.

     • Open a window (sidebar or balloon) with details such as descriptions, images, and media.

4. Show Multiple Categories

   • Check the box next to a category title to display all locations in that category.

   • You can select multiple categories at once to see more locations simultaneously.

5. Search for Locations

   • Click the Search icon (magnifying glass in the top left) to quickly find buildings, parking lots, or any other featured location.

For Mobile Users

1. Open the Main Index

   • Tap the hamburger menu (three bars in the upper left corner).

   • Browse the list of main categories.

2. Browse by Category

   • Tap the arrows next to categories to view subcategories and locations.

3. Select Locations

   • Tap a checkbox next to a category or tap a location title to highlight it on the map.

   • Collapse the main index to see selected locations.

4. View Location Details

   • Tap a location marker on the map.

   • Expand the description box at the bottom by tapping the up caret ( ^ ) for more details.

5. Return to the Main Map

   • Tap the X button or the hamburger menu at the top of the screen.

6. Search for Locations

   • Tap the Search icon in the top left corner to quickly look up specific locations.

Sharing Locations

Want to share a spot with others?

1. Click or tap the Share icon in the upper right corner of a location’s window.

2. Copy the URL to share via text or email.

3. If enabled, you can also share directly to social media by selecting the available icons.

Tips for Success

• Use the search tool if you’re looking for something specific—it’s often the fastest way.

• On mobile, collapse the main index after making selections so you can clearly see your highlighted locations.

• When sharing, double-check that your recipients can access the map link before sending widely.
