What is a Location Marker ID?
Each individual location that is created on the interactive map is assigned its own unique identifying number, which is referred to as a Marker ID.
What is a Marker Instance ID?
When a location is assigned to a specific category in the map, it creates a Marker Instance ID. If a location is assigned to more than one category, there is a unique Marker Instance ID for each category that the location is assigned to.
Why is this Important?
Marker Instance IDs are used in generating global share URLs from the map to share individual locations, for building the URL structure needed for create static maps, and adding your map renderings to your Localist places.
How do I Find the Marker Instance ID?
There are two main ways to locate the Marker Instance ID:
- It can be found by looking at the url when the location is selected or shared.
- It can also be found by looking at the Marker Instance ID column of a data export spreadsheet.
Note that the location assigned to two categories also has two Marker Instance IDs
