Integrating your interactive map with Localist helps keep your Places data consistent across platforms. This guide shows you how to export data from your Map CMS, clean it up, and upload it into Localist using the Localist Places' Bulk Add tool tool.
Step 1: Export Your Data from the Map CMS
Log in to your interactive map CMS.

Navigate to the Data Export tab.

Click Export Data (top left) to download the full CSV file.
Step 2: Open and Clean Your Spreadsheet
Open the CSV in a spreadsheet editor (Concept3D recommends Google Sheets).

Optional: delete these unnecessary columns:
Reference, Labels, Video, Visible, Private, Feed URL, Rate, Level, Schedule,
Marker ID, Category IDs, Tour Name, Tour ID, Last Edited By, Created Date, Changed Date
Keep these necessary columns:

Step 3: Prepare the Data for Localist
Remove any Places you don’t want in Localist.

Rename columns to match Localist:
Location→ AddressMarker Instance IDs→ Concept3D ID

Replace latitude/longitude with street addresses (if available).
If no street address is available, leave the lat/long values.
Important: Every Place must have either a street address or lat/long if possible.
Step 4: Handle Multiple Marker Instance IDs
If a Place has multiple
Marker Instance IDs, they correspond in order to the categories in theCategoriescolumn.

Choose the Marker ID that best represents the Place and delete the others.
If there’s only one Marker ID, no changes are needed.
Optional: delete the
Categoriescolumn once finalized.
Step 5: Save and Upload to Localist
Download the cleaned sheet as a .CSV.
Log in to your Localist Admin Dashboard.

Go to Classifications > Places

Click Bulk Add Events.

Choose your CSV file, then click Upload.
Your Places will process — and you’re done! 🎉
💡 Tips for Success
Check addresses: Make sure every Place has either an address or lat/long.
Save a backup: Keep an unedited copy of your original CSV.
Leverage Categories: Even though they don’t upload, they help verify correct Marker IDs.
Test small: Try a small batch before uploading the full list.
