Localist offers a variety of customizable default event layouts to help you organize and display your events based on event experience and timing of your events. These layouts are designed to streamline the process of creating and managing events on your calendar, ensuring that each type of event is appropriately categorized for better user experience and management.
- To reach this menu, open the Admin Dashboard and navigate to Settings > Platform Settings > Appearance tab > Default Event Layouts
Changes made to one will not be reflected on the others, so make sure if you're adding a component to one, you add it to others it should be present on, as well.
- Hybrid Events: These events can be a mix of both in-person and virtual attendance. Layouts are available for both current or future events, as well as for past events.
- In-Person Events: For events that take place at a physical location, you can select layouts tailored to current or future events, or those that have already passed.
- Virtual Events: Virtual-only events also have designated layouts for current, future, and past events.
- Conference Events: A specialized layout for Conferences, which often encompass multiple sessions and event types.
Localist’s default event layouts categorize events are also broken out by timing timing, helping users easily find current, future, or past events.

Current or Future Events: These layouts highlight active or upcoming events, making it easy to promote what’s next. Available for hybrid, in-person, and virtual events, this ensures that your audience stays informed about what’s ahead.

Past Events: Dedicated layouts for past events archive event details, allowing users to browse event history. These are useful for referencing dates feedback, or documentation, and are available across all event types.
Edit Layout
To edit any default layout, click Edit Layout for that specific template. Next, you'll be brought to the Default Layout Editor for that template, with the current existing layout in the menu on the right.
You can drag and drop these components up and down the layout, which will correspond to their order on the front end from top to bottom. To add a new component click +Add Component to get started:
Adding a new component will add it to the bottom of the list, where it can then be dragged and dropped to wherever on the page you want it to be.
To edit a specific component, click to highlight that component and the menu to edit will open on the right side of the page:
If you have Developer Theming, you'll be able to edit the component's HTML right from that specific Theme Editor Template. Contact your CSM for more information about Developer Theming.
Be sure to Save Changes before previewing the page.
