Academic calendars are important calendars that outline critical dates during the academic year for students, faculty, and staff on campus. If you would like to display dates such as the start/end of quarters or semesters, holiday breaks, class registration dates, or any other important days, follow these steps to add your academic calendar to Localist and ensure your campus stays informed.
What You'll Need
- A user account with Platform Admin or Calendar Manager access
- Your academic calendar
Step-by-Step Guide
You'll want to tweak the steps below based on how you want your calendar organized, but these are two approaches to get you started. For more assistance, please contact your Client Success Manager or support@concept3d.com.
Option 1: Using Event Type
1. Log into Localist Admin with your Platform Admin or Calendar Manager user
Platform Admins and Calendar Managers are the only users that can create and manage the different Classifications within your Localist Calendar.
2. Go to Classifications > Filters > Event Types
Click Filters in the sidebar and then Event Types on the page that appears.
3. Click "Add Item" to create an Event Type and name it "Academic Calendar"
Click "Add Item" to start the process of creating your Academic Calendar.
Give your new Event Type a name like "Academic Calendar".
4. Create Events with "Academic Calendar" as the Event Type
Create events for your Academic Calendar and add the Event Type you created to those events.
Option 2: Using Custom Filters
Instead of using Event Type, you can create a custom Filter for "Academic Calendar". This allows you to have multiple categories for "Academic Calendar" such as Graduation, Tuition Deadlines, and Grades & Transcripts while leaving Event Type open for actual events. For example:
1. Go to Classifications > Filters
Click Filters in the sidebar and then "Add Filter" on the page that appears.
2. Click "Add Filter" and name it "Academic Calendar"
Make sure "Applies To" is set to "Events".
Give your new custom Filter a name like "Academic Calendar".
3. (Optional) Open your new "Academic Calendar" Filter and add categories
Click on your new "Academic Calendar" Filter.
Click on "Add Multiple Items" or "Add Item" depending on how many categories you want to add.
Add your categories that will go underneath Academic Calendar.
4. Create Events with the appropriate categories for your new "Academic Calendar" Filter
Create events for your Academic Calendar and add the Academic Calendar categories you created to those events.
