All content on the map defaults to being publicly visible on the front end. However, categories, locations, and tours can be marked private, making them visible only in the CMS or via a custom shareable URL.
π Setting Content to Private
You can set categories, locations, or tours to private on their edit pages.
How to Set Something to Private:
-
Go to the Edit page of a category, location, or tour.
-
Scroll to the Private setting and mark it as
True
. -
Click Save, then Publish.
π Once marked private, youβll see a βprivateβ sticker/icon in the CMS to indicate itβs hidden from the public front end.
π€ Sharing Private Content
Even though private content doesnβt appear on the public map by default, it can be shared using a custom URL.
π Sharing a Private Category
When a category is private, all locations inside it are also hidden. You donβt need to make the individual locations private.
-
In the CMS, enable the private category using the checkbox.
-
Click the Share button in the top-right corner.
-
Copy the custom URL.
-
Share the link β anyone with the link will see the private category on the front end.
π You can selectively toggle which categories are shown in the shared link using the sidebar filters before copying the URL.
π Sharing a Private Location
Use this when the location is under a public category, but the location itself should remain hidden from general view.
-
In the CMS, select the private location.
-
Choose how you'd like to share:
-
Location Share Button β Shares only that location, without others in the same category.
-
Global Share Button β Shares the location plus others in its parent category.
-
-
Click the appropriate Share button, copy the link, and share it.
π Sharing a Private Tour
-
Navigate to the Tours tab in the CMS.
-
Click on the private tour.
-
Click either the Tour Share button or the Global Share button.
-
Copy and share the URL.
π Pro Tip: Map Zoom + Share
When sharing a link from the map:
-
Zoom in or pan to any location.
-
Click the Share button.
-
The latitude and longitude will be included in the URL.
-
When opened, the map will auto-zoom to that exact spot.
π This is helpful for creating focused views of campuses, buildings, or tours.
